PC Hardware is pretty close to the same thing we use for servers. Usually a server will have onboard SCSI or RAID and usually the memory requires ECC but just about everything else is the same.  Yes its true.  For example, Most of the HP netservers use Intel Chipsets (BX, FX etc..)

 

Here you will find some basic information on hardware and its interworkings. I have included POST error codes for the most common BIOS’s and a list of standard IRQ assignments. Like everything else in life, your milage may vary.
